Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student began to review percent, decimal, and fraction concepts that she was struggling with. We started to look at the reading section of the test and discussed strategies for this section. I assigned her an essay to write before our next session so we can begin to discuss the writing section."
"This was my first meeting with the student. We worked on geometry homework involving proofs with parallel lines. We also talked about her integrated science class and came up with some goals for our meetings together. The first step will be to organize her notebook in order to make doing homework and studying easier. She already has some good study habits in place, including making her own flashcards."
"Assessed current knowledge and areas of question/particular challenge. Covered basics and rules of long division, multiplication, decimals/percentages/fractions/ratios and their relationship, how to switch between them and the rules for doing so, and covered word problems that related directly to medications/dosage as this is what the student is studying for."
"Today the student and I started the session by reviewing Pythagorean theorem and its applications. We then started discussing special triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90) and the derivations of their special ratios. We then moved on to basic trigonometry. I explained to him the meaning behind SOH CAH TOA and we started talking about the applications of trig. We will continue next time."
"Began intermolecular forces (electronegativity, ionic vs. polar covalent vs. non-polar covalent bonds, polar bond vs. polar molecule, net dipole moments). Also went over free-response for ideal gas test. Will prioritize problem-solving going forward."
