"The student and I focused mostly on the critical reading section this session. We started with writing questions to review content we had most recently gone over and then moved into the passages and vocabulary questions. She was left with several words to define for herself and a critical reading section to complete."
"This session was my final one with the student. We reviewed the homework I had assigned him last week - this included vocabulary, multiple practice sessions, and an essay. His results on all of this work were strong, and they were consistent with the results that he has been displaying throughout our sessions. There were small things we needed to discuss in the essay and a small handful of questions in the sections we had to review, but they were picky things that were few and far between. At this point in his preparation, I felt like the best course of action was to use as much time as we could to practice working through sections under exam like conditions; the goal for this work was to strengthen the student's ability to apply the strategies we have built, and to strengthen his comfort level under the exam conditions. We had time in the session to work through one section of critical reading, and then to work through the small ending section of writing questions. His results were similarly strong. This brought us very close to the end of the session, so we spent some time discussing things that he could do in the time between the session and exam day to maintain his level of preparation and to avoid any regression in his readiness. In addition to the ideas we discussed, I gave him Xeroxed copies of practice sections, one for each subject on the exam - I encouraged him to space them out and work on them this week, simply to keep the experience fresh before Saturday. All in all, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the student, and I believe he will be in a good place on exam day. The goal to work towards is always to leave the student in the best possible position on exam day; I try to help them get to a place where they can effectively capitalize on their preparation and execute (or perform) their work to the best of their ability on that day. He has been a great student, and I feel very good about his opportunity to perform to the best of his abilities this Saturday!"
