"The student and I worked on the calendar project. We did several of the problems, some of which were logic problems and others were geometry problems."
"We split this session to review some geometry as well as biology (for the final that is upcoming). For geometry, we discussed how to determine the function and domain of a piecewise function. She had two worksheet problems to practice and I went through the first one to explain and then she did the second one without assistance. We also reviewed reflections and rotations of shapes, which she knows how to do. For biology, her teacher has given her a list of topics and vocabulary that will likely be covered on the upcoming midterm. The student said she felt comfortable with the more recent material because she understood the concepts better (things like mitosis, cell cycle, etc.). She went through the list and asked questions about certain topics when she didn't quite remember. Most of our discussion was focused on the central dogma (DNA-RNA-Protein) and processes involving each of these (replication, transcription, and translation). She plans to continue to review these topics."
"Since this was the first session, I was looking to see what the student needed to work on the most to prepare him for the geometry state exam coming up. We worked on direct and indirect proofs. We also worked on geometry concepts to solve angles and lengths algebraically. There are certain formulas such as slope and distance that we need to work on. He was very cooperative student and he knew exactly what he wanted to work on during the session."
"I helped the student work through some of his geometry homework on polygons. We reviewed several problems/concepts addressing interior and exterior angles of polygons. We concluded by looking over a section about circles in his review workbook."
"Today we continued working on getting the student caught up on all assignments. She made good progress today, completing a few of the items on her list."
