Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his biology review sheet. We came up with some acronyms to help him remember key concepts. I explained and reviewed the main concepts."
"We covered diffusion and osmosis and the effects on tonicity on a cell then went over plasma membranes and cell organelles."
"Biology review of intro material, atoms and bonding, cells, and scientific method for midterm exam tomorrow."
"Today, the student worked through the guided reading homework for 14.1 and 14.2 about human chromosomes and human genetic disorders. We reviewed what was discussed in class and previewed the genetic disorders for tomorrow. We discussed strategies for reading the textbook and finding answers to the questions, including looking at figures and their legends as well as skimming later questions for keywords if the unfamiliar term isn't bolded in the book and rereading relevant sections more carefully. We talked through his answers to the worksheet. We also started making flashcards for the key questions and vocabulary presented at the beginning of each new section of the textbook; these should be numbered by chapter and section (i.e., 14.2) and can be used for test review. He appears to feel fairly comfortable with this material so far."
"In today's session, the student completed problem set 32 for math homework and completed review problems in preparation for his biology quiz tomorrow. The material we covered was the skeletal system- specifically its pieces and their functions. I recommend that he review this material more tonight and tomorrow morning before his quiz."
"We went over a test the student took in class. We covered the multiple choice questions on carbohydrates, lipids, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis. We will finish the short answer portion during our next session and start the next unit. I will be sending her some videos to watch before our next session."
