## Practice Quizzes

Are you worried about taking the Math section of the PSAT/NMSQT? Many students find themselves worrying about this section for a number of reasons. Perhaps you’re worried about the section because math is a subject in which small mistakes can quickly derail problems, or perhaps you fear that you will not have enough time to work all of the problems. You can calm your apprehension by learning about the structure of the section and the types of questions it asks, as well as by using some great free resources to study.

Every PSAT contains two math sections, each twenty-five minutes long. Altogether, you are asked to solve 38 math questions on a PSAT. Twenty-eight of these questions are multiple-choice and provide you with answer choices from which to choose. The other ten problems, however, are grid-in questions, which ask you to calculate your answer, write it in a given box on your answer sheet, and fill in the bubbles corresponding to each number underneath the box, just like how you bubble in your name on answer sheets. You are allowed to use certain specific kinds of calculators on the PSAT Math section, so make sure that the calculator you plan to use is one of the kinds allowed before test day.

In need of resources that can help you review the mathematical concepts covered on the PSAT’s Math section? Free PSAT Math Practice Tests from Varsity Tutors can help you with all your studying needs. Taking a Practice Test is like taking a twelve-question quiz on topics covered on the PSAT’s Math section. If you miss a question, a full explanation is provided, so you can figure out precisely where you went wrong instead of just realizing you missed the question and moving on without learning from your mistake. If you figure out that you need to focus on one particular area of math—how to multiply fractions, for example, or how to work with exponents—Varsity Tutors’ Practice Tests can help you do that, too, as Practice Test questions are also organized by content. So, you can focus on whatever aspect of math you need to in order to make your studying time as productive as possible. Doing well on the PSAT’s Math section shouldn’t seem as impossible as it may initially appear after you consider what great free Practice Tests and other PSAT Math resources you have access to for free on Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools site.
