Sasha ...I'd be happy to help you out! In school, I'm studying not only engineering but also getting minors in French and marketing. In my free time, I'm a singer-songwriter and I perform around town playing my guitar and jamming out. I am a native Russian speaker, and I have been consistently tutoring my peers, younger kids, and adult students for about seven years now, increasingly in mathematics, science, Russian, and test prep.... My teaching philosophy is to make learning fun, because nobody wants to spend hours doing something they don't care about! In my tutoring sessions, I'll help you not only understand the material better but also grow to enjoy it in your own way.

Tahir As a master's student and former medical student, I know how challenging academics can be. I also know how having a helping hand, a guidance through the confusion, can help one gain confidence in themselves to excel. From tutoring children to post-graduates, I have seen that all students (no matter their age, level of education, strengths, weaknesses, etc.) who are willing to learn can succeed. ... In a typical first session, the student and I usually discuss their goals and what specifically they would like to improve over time.
Michael ...fail at the first hurdle, not firmly understanding the meaning of the material. I think a natural discussion about the material is necessary to see where the student is confused and how they can understand it intuitively is needed both before and after working through problems. Of course, doing the problem sets is still crucial, and nobody will really understand or remember without actually doing the problems themselves both with and without guidance.... Despite what some students might think, teaching concepts in school is less about the details they will remember and use but more the methods and principles behind them. A student who understands how and why language or the natural world works in a certain way can carry that understanding with them to exam day and beyond, whereas a student who has just memorized a list of facts and rules is prone to forget it all due to nerves or missing a topic to study. When students learn how to think critically, how to analyze a problem and search for solutions, and how to learn in class, they are already most of the way there.

Ariel ...to be done. I like to laugh and consider myself pretty laid back. I strive to help your children understand they will get what they give out of this tutoring experience. I've been fortunate to see many of my students earn high score increases since I began tutoring test prep. I'm thankful for parents and students who make a list of schools and know what score they are aiming for. I'm also willing to help...
DJ ...tutored my own students frequently, developed ways to help them through state and standardized tests in my classroom, and always loved it. For adolescents, I find that reclaiming their academic experiences through reflection was just as important on drilling them in the facts when it came to ACT, SAT, and AP preparation. A few opportunities to help the parents of my students reinvigorated me as I helped adults get their GED, pass required college courses...
Christopher ...experience mentoring and teaching students at the high school and middle school level. As a junior and senior in high school, I taught my school's journalism program.
