"I have loved science ever since I was a kid and watched The Magic School Bus and the Bill Nye show. I majored in neuroscience and behavior in college, so I learned a lot about biology and psychology, and plan on getting a Master's in bioengineering. I spent two years serving with the Peace Corps in Peru, where I learned to speak Spanish, build stoves out of adobe, and a lot about life in rural communities. In my spare time I enjoy playing harp and guitar, learning new languages, and being outdoors."

"I'm a recent graduate from the University of Washington and I'm currently applying to medical school. After graduating this spring with a degree in Physiology and a minor in Bioethics I wanted to spend my time coaching high school football so this fall I was the defensive line coach at Meadowdale High School. Now that the season's over I (hopefully) have until this fall to keep myself busy and I'm hoping to use tutoring to do this. I'm happy to help students with any of the sciences, including college courses, English, or test prep for the SAT or MCAT." ...

"During my time as an undergraduate and graduate student, I spent several years as a physics teaching assistant. My experience at the universities has included both teaching physics in group (classroom and lab) settings and working with students individually on homework problems or test preparation. For the past few years, I have also tutored students independently, primarily focusing on Algebra/Algebra 2, Physics, and Chemistry. Students have often said that I am a very clear, patient, and thorough tutor."

"I recently completed my Master's degree in Geography at the University of Washington. Before that, I studied Geography and Political Science at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Up next: law school! So far I've been accepted to Duke, Georgetown and Harvard, but I'm waiting to hear back from a few more schools before I make my final decision about where to go. I've taken the SAT, GRE, and the LSAT, so I'm a pro when it comes to standardized tests. I got bitten by the teaching bug while in graduate school, where I worked as both a teaching assistant and a tutor." ...

"Few things give me greater joy than helping others learn. Teaching allows me to share my enthusiasm for new ideas and experiences. I believe that the ideal educational environment emphasizes high achievement and collaboration. For the past two years, I have worked in educational settings around the Seattle area. As the lead teacher for an after-school program serving Somali refugees and as a monitor at a French bilingual school, I have immersed myself in the region’s splendid diversity."

"I began tutoring in high school as a favor to a family friend who was struggling in her math class. With my help, she was able to turn her failing grade in Algebra into a B+ by the end of the semester. That was the beginning of my passion for teaching. I hold undergraduate degrees in both English and the equivalent in mathematics because I loved both subjects so much I could not choose between them."

"I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California, with a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Arts in Environmental Studies. Informally, I began tutoring at the ripe age of six - ever since my little sister was born, I have acted as her mentor and guide, both academically and professionally. I have extensive experience tutoring high school students in AP Biology, Honors Biology, and Honors Biochemistry. Last summer, I designed the curriculum and taught a seven-week intensive course on SAT Critical Reading and Writing." ...

"I am a 2009 graduate of Oberlin College, originally from Santa Cruz, CA and new to Seattle! I received a double major in English and Comparative American Studies, and graduated with high honors. My academic background is in literature, composition, and the social sciences, and I have been involved in teaching and tutoring for 5 years. While I tutor a variety of subjects, my favorite is writing and composition. Throughout college I worked as a course assistant and writing tutor to college freshman, helping to bring students with a wide variety of educational backgrounds up to college level. I love helping students learn to craft an ...

"I received my BS in physics in December 2012, from the University of Washington with a 3.6 cumulative GPA. I thoroughly enjoy math and applying mathematical methods to the real world, in particular through the study of physics. One of my greatest strengths in this regard is my ability to approach a problem from multiple angles. If the first approach I suggest for a problem isn't clear to a student, I can usually come up with an alternate, sometimes more intuitive way of addressing the same problem. Recreationally, I spend a significant fraction of my time developing my problem-solving skills with the Mathematica programming language." ...
