Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered materials for her upcoming test. She is learning steadily, but needs to continue to practice."
"Today we finished working through the material for Chapter 8. We then discussed preparations for his final exam."
"Prepared for another math exam scheduled for tomorrow. Went over more factoring problems to make sure the student had a solid foundation and was ready for the test."
"The student and I worked on 10.2 tonight, which covers exponential growth and decay. She did a great job of retaining what we worked on last session and seems like she is becoming more comfortable with this unit already. This section was easier for her to grasp because it is based on real word applications. We completed the guided practice and independent practice for this unit. We also looked ahead a bit to 10.3, geometric sequences. She compared and contrasted these from arithmetic sequences, and I think she will do well with this section also."
"In today's session, I provided the student more practice on finding the equation of a line given 2 points or given slope and 1 point. Then, I created a preview of upcoming concepts with direct variation and finding equations of lines that are either parallel or perpendicular to the given line."
"The student and I began preparing for his final exam in algebra, which is in three weeks' time. We spent the time working on his end of the chapter review questions for chapter 1 and some of chapter 2. He has a good grasp on the majority of the material. However in the instances that he does struggle, even if he has an idea of how the question should be answered, he has trouble feeling confident with the answer he has. I think that this is something we can work on in the following sessions, just going with his instinct when he is uncertain. Besides this, I told him to bring his old tests and quizzes home for next time to see where he struggled while we review."
