Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered the rest of the foundational chemistry chapter. The topics we talked about today are chemical bonding, atomic structure, pH, and polarity. We also covered the study questions at the end of the chapter. Overall, this was a great session."
"During this session, the student and I worked on her English poetry project. She was tasked with researching and analyzing several works by an assigned poet. As she wasn't quite sure where to begin, I showed her how to navigate through the library's article/research database and utilize Internet searches to find worthy sources."
"The student and I had his final review session before the linear algebra test. The time was mostly dedicated to solidifying concepts of transition/transformation matrices, change of basis, and coordinate conversions. I also explained why some distinctions and naming conventions are important to maintain (especially blackboard bold v. uppercase v. lowercase; matrix operations don't make sense for vectors & scalars and vice versa, spaces and bases need to be distinct and distinct from matrices)."
"Graded some practice tests and found that the student has had improved his practice test scores. The student will continue to practice on reading comprehension as there is still room for improvement."
"The student and I continued with the Chinese textbook that she had when she went to school in China. Lesson ten was the last lesson she'd had, so we reviewed it today. It gave me a good idea what the student's Chinese level was and what I should focus on."
"We spent the session reviewing for the student's auditory exam. We reviewed two videos, one of which was provided by her teacher. We reviewed the accompanying questions and discussed a strategy for her quiz. From now on, we will incorporate a listening section at the end of every session, regardless if that was the goal of that section. I also asked her to increase her listening opportunities outside of school and our sessions. Watching movies, listening to music, or anything that will help her listening skills."
