Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Started the session working on vocabulary homework. We went over what each word meant and then did a worksheet based on the vocabulary list. We then worked on spelling words. The student had to write each word five times. To help him study better, I had him pronounce each word as he wrote it. In future sessions, I would like to have the student read out loud to increase his confidence. "
"This session consisted of working on nouns, pronouns, and antecedents. We also assessed word problem-solving skills via an online interactive quiz demonstrating a range of math concepts(multiplication, division, fractions, operations, addition, subtraction, measurement)."
"We worked on the student's old homework which dealt with percentage and commission. His still has a tendency to jump in a problem without reading the question well and thus forgets to write the important steps in his homework or test. In this session we mainly dealt with his presentation, organization and completeness of his homework and test."
"Today was my first session with the student. We covered a lot of subjects for his Wednesdays midterm: Margin of error, kurtosis/skewness, confidence intervals, type I and II error, and we began hypothesis testing. There still needs to be some more focus on hypothesis testing."
"The student and I reviewed zodiac signs due to the recent Chinese New Year. We also reviewed "I eat ___" and "I drink ___", and lastly we reviewed "Heads Shoulders Knees Toes," which he has started to remember. We also reviewed names of some family members and some sentence structure."
"Today, after dictation and practices of the previously learned concepts, we covered the seasons, celebrations, terms about the weather, the 16 states of Germany, and expanded the vocabulary around locations, like city, village, etc., and the cardinal points. I gave the student a map of Germany, which also showed the states and the location of Freiburg. I taught her some facts about the reunification of Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall. At the end of the session, she read a letter from a pen pal aloud, translated the lines, and answered comprehension questions in German. She will write down the new vocabulary words from the letter on her flashcards and also practice reading until the next session. In addition, she will write down the 16 states of Germany. She was very focused and did an excellent job!"
