Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a book that contained material that she wanted to review and that would guide our lesson. We followed it and I helped her with the translation and vocabulary, and she wants to continue using it as a guide."
"The student needed help with memorization. We covered basic vocabulary and verb conjugations. He was very excited and enthusiastic about learning. We played a game of translation where I told a story in Spanish, using the verbs that were to be covered, and he translated it back to English. I assigned some verbs and vocabulary words for him to work on."
"We spent the entire session preparing specifically for the student's test on Wednesday. We made a study guide in addition to some of the material I brought in, and went over rules and concepts that he was previously struggling with that are going to be on the test. He seems very motivated and definitely wants to do well on this test."
"This was our first meeting so I first focused on what the student's goals were for his Spanish class (to get a grade of B or better). He is motivated to get decent grades in the class. I wanted to determine his general level of knowledge of the language so we looked over his textbook and practiced some of the concepts (present and past tense verb endings). He says that the main emphasis in the class is on reading and writing, whereas his strengths are in listening comprehension and speaking. He also feels that there are lots of gaps in his vocabulary. I suggested that he review and really learn the regular verb endings so that he's prepared to move onto the next chapter in the text."
"The student decided that to study her verbs better, she'd use a computer app with digital flashcards and games. We continued through the Spanish book relearning verbs, working on pronunciation, and learning a bit of new vocabulary. We practiced the demonstrative adjectives and read about snow skiing in Spain. She is doing well with the material, and is also prepping finals for other classes. Her attitude is always positive towards the material."
"This afternoon, the student and I covered basic vocabulary, Ir, Ar, and Er present tense and irregular verbs. We did a review of conjugation and I sent him passages to read out loud to practice his reading skill. He needed help with pronunciation and vocabulary, so we worked on that for quite a bit. I asked him to practice vocabulary and verb conjugation and to be ready for our next session."
