Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we first reviewed the books we read yesterday, Ducks and Water. I timed her one more time, and she read both at a good pace, averaging 60 words/minute. After that, we went over the new book that she had, about Goldilocks. Since it is longer, I plan to practice it with her tomorrow, and try to get her to a speed of around 70 words per minute."
"The student showed a great deal of progress today in her reading. She recognized more sight words and her fluency was noticeably better. She had her best score yet on last week's spelling list and her confidence has been boosted. We worked on her new spelling list which is mainly focused in long I words. She wrote sentences from dictation. The sentences included phonetic patterns we have been working on as well as first grade sight words."
"She is a very eager student. She likes to play school which makes it very easy to teach her. She is sometimes struggles with the sounds that letters make. When she sees a large word she guesses and so we make sure that she sounds things out. The plan is to continue to bring worksheets to work on and to switch to different activities to keep her interested and motivated."
