Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I prepared for his upcoming paper. We went through some articles, jotted down some ideas, and the student wrote a prelim draft for the assignment. He e-mailed the draft to me and I edited the content from home."

"The student's Mandarin teacher had to take an emergency medical leave, so his class hasn't covered any new material recently. I used this as an opportunity to go back further in his textbook and review the key concepts that he is having minor issues with."
"The student and I worked on her History of Photography research paper. We used the outline that we did last Wednesday and wrote out the draft of the paper (writing topic sentences, connecting the different pieces of evidence together, and doing analysis of the different topics using the scholarly source articles). I have asked her to make sure that the bibliography is complete and that the source citations are done before Friday, so that I can do a final check of them before she turns the draft in."
"We are continuing to work on subtraction with 3-4 digit numbers. The student knows his basic facts. We finished some of his reading homework for the week."
"The student is in his fourth year of Japanese, so we discussed a bit about his background and what he wanted to cover in our sessions. We also discussed whether sessions should be held in Japanese or not. We decided to conduct that initial session in English. Having said that, the session was mostly taken up by a homework passage he must translate on Japanese culture and teahouses. This was our first session, but I was impressed with the student's focus and overall grasp of vocabulary."
