Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is preparing for his last quiz and test of the quarter. He is learning how to calculate volume and surface area of different 3-D shapes. We worked together to derive the area of a hexagon as he will need to know how to calculate volume and surface area of hexagonal prisms. I provided the student with several practice problems to help him develop his skills."
"I helped the student with geometry since she is just starting to do some basic trigonometry. She seemed to get the hang of it after some practice. After that I helped her study for her algebra test. Most of that was review and she did well."
"Went over two quizzes, reworking the problems the student missed and doing similar ones. Then we used his worksheets to review the problems he was having trouble with until he was able to work them out."
"For this session, we reviewed topics of Area, Perimeter of polygons, and also composite figures. As a reference, I made him a 'cheat sheet' of the formulas and properties."
"We went over the material on her upcoming chapter test on the properties and relationships of triangles. Specific problem types included solving for a missing piece of information on a diagram, proofs, and short answer."
"We discussed how she felt about her Chapter 7 test that she just had. She said there were two parts to it, and that she felt confident about the first half and decent about the second half. We will review the problems once they become available if needed. Today we went over 8.1 Pythagorean Theorem, and she grasped the concepts really well. The only thing is that she feels that she needs more practice with radical numbers (square roots). I have left her with practice problems which we will review later on next week. We will be meeting next Tuesday to go over 8.2."
