Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Covered the homework assigned for the week, as well as a review of previous topics. Homework covered symmetry and reflection, how to reflect points over lines, and points of symmetry. Also, how to identify symmetry in shapes."
"The student and I studied for the ACT today. We worked on the last 10 or so math problems from a couple tests. These tend to be the hard problems and since he is so good at math, we think this is where we should focus. We also worked on a couple passages of English."
"The student and I worked through all the strategies in the math section of her new practice book. We did not have time for the drill at the end so I assigned it for her homework. We will go over that and the diagnostic exam at our next meeting. We will decide next steps based on the results of that diagnostic."
"The student expressed that she has difficulty writing good composition pieces. She worked on: How to structure an introduction, body paragraphs and conclusions. She worked on how to rephrase her statements to reduce redundancies. She was very pleased with her first drafted that was produced during the session."
"The student and I started off this session by looking over the quiz problems that she corrected herself. She did well with them and for the most part, was able to work towards the right answer. The "protocols" for problem solving that we sketched out at the last session seemed to help her identify the problem's type and the route to the solution, so we're both feeling positive about that. Together, we can work on translating these tools to any problems that are out of the ordinary. We also spent time working on the material that her class is going over right now, which is basically applying the earlier trig principles to word problems. During our next session, we can put more time into pulling key information out of the word problems and using it to draw a picture that can act as a problem solving guide."
