Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I began by having the student start off with an online game and played a couple of sight word games. In order to understand more of the student's knowledge of the 220 sight words, I assessed him on all the words and he was able to identify 165 words. We would do a third of the list and then do something else to not overwhelm him. I then re-assessed the student's reading level using an online source. He tested at a level C. When we began, he was at level A; his confidence has improved. We read a story. We then played one last sight word game."
"The student and I had our last session. She has gone from not being able to read one word to reading a passage of 40 words. Her decoding skills have greatly improved. Additionally, her comprehension skills have improved as she is able to identify with characters and their feelings throughout a story. She is a bright little girl who will develop into a strong reader if she is provided with consistent and regular opportunities to continue to develop the skills she has acquired during our time together."
"The student and I went through some lists of common first grade sight words. She flew threw them, so we moved on to some second grade sight words as well. We made flashcards for the words that she found difficult and practiced reading them as well as using them in sentences. She seemed to enjoy succeeding in reading the words she knew and making her own flashcards for the words she doesn't know."
