"On Sunday with the student, we worked on her World History study guide for her comp final. She had 3 essay questions that we had to prepare for. She also had a list of 25 events that we had to find the dates for and put in chronological order. We outlined the structure for the essay. Then she wrote down enough information and specifics and wrote the thesis. The timetable took a long time, due to many of the dates being vague or close to each other. We ended with her feeling confident that on the native part of the comp she will do well."
"This week we continued with our review work and practice exams. The student is becoming more comfortable with the content of this 2 year course. We reviewed DBQ short answers, and with only 2 weeks remaining before the exam, she and I will be concentrating on broad themes and concepts to prepare her for the essay portions of the exam."
"Today the student and I discussed the Assyrian Empire and the implications of its military prowess. Today we really focused on using his notes in combination with the text to answer questions via historical analysis. I am really excited to see that he seems to be improving in his ability to synthesize the information that he reads and before our time working together ends, we are going to work on how to prepare a historical analysis in essay format."
