Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a test on Tuesday, so we spent our entire session preparing for that. We spent a little bit of time on the verb conjugation that would appear on the test, but most of the time was spent reviewing his vocabulary list. He seemed to have a pretty good grasp of most of the words by the time our session was over, and as we were working I made a list of the words that he struggled with. I left him with this list so that he could use it to study in his own time before the test."
"We are still reviewing what we've learned so far, adding new expressions and words on "restaurants," "hotels," "airports." The student is also still working on the travel book project."
"We worked extensively on a poem that she was assigned today. The assignment is to memorize and recite the poem by May 26th and it is worth 100 points. We went over pronunciation and memorization of the first two stanzas. I pulled out the more advanced words and broke them down visually for her on the whiteboard. I also read the poem line-by-line allowing her to repeat after me so she could begin to hear what the words should sound like. After, I had her work on memorizing through reading and speaking the lines simultaneously and then saying the poem without reading at all. She did very well! She seems to have a very solid grasp of the first two stanzas after correcting a few words. I explained to her the importance of memorizing the vowels sounds. I also suggested that she review the first two stanzas at least twice daily until next Monday, so that she doesn't forget them and we can continue on with the poem next Monday. She seemed to be very proud of herself!"
