"For this session, the student and I discussed her lab report. We discussed how to write an effective introduction by providing background information on all of the topics covered in the lab. This included reaction kinetics, reaction rates, the factors that affect reaction rates, and reaction orders. She understood the background very well. Afterwards, we moved on to the calculation portion. Once I explained the process step by step, she really understood it and was able to complete the report. She seems to be improving in her understanding of the material, which will benefit her for her upcoming chemistry exam."
"The student and I spent yesterday's tutoring session reviewing circular motion, general problem solving strategies, and planning for her upcoming semester. We worked through a review packet together, and we spent extra time on tying concepts together (i.e., kinematics and conservation of energy). We discussed this afterward, and she agreed that solving more exam-style questions would be helpful. I've offered to prepare additional questions for her to attempt before our session each week. She seems to be on top of things."
"We did some more work on classical mechanics subjects for the student's midterm, and I think she is getting more out of each repetition through this material."
"We continued our discussion of gravity, talking about orbits and Kepler's laws. We also introduced gravitational potential energy, derived escape speed, and an example of this with black holes."
"Today we covered atomic mass, mass number, and charge in regards to atoms, ions, and isotopes. The student did very well with writing the complete symbol for various ions, atoms, and isotopes. I taught him about nuclear chemistry, which seemed appropriate as nuclear chemical reactions require the knowledge of mass number, atomic number, etc. He also said he got a 94 on his last chemistry exam! Things are going extremely well for this student."
"The student worked on both physics and geometry homework. He finished a lab on uniform motion, velocity, position, and clock reading and worked on a motion map, a position vs. time graph, and absolute and percent error. He also worked on two column proofs and reviewed for his upcoming geometry test over logic, conditional statements, converse, inverse and contrapositive statements, using the linear pair postulate and the supplementary and complementary angle theorems."
