Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's homework involving gases. Most problems involved the ideal gas law, which he did well with. We talked about partial pressure and how it's related to mole fraction. We also went over using Van der Waal's equation of state and why it's important."
"The student and I reviewed material today for her science final this week. We covered population growth and statistics (normal distributions, standard deviation). I think she was feeling much more confident with the material after our session!"
"Today, we worked on phase change charts. We calculated vapor pressures and compared solid shape and formation of numerous compounds. I left him with no additional homework, as he still had 2 sections of homework in the book to finish."
"The student worked on chemistry homework that covered identifying numbers of electrons, protons, and neutrons of a given element, electron configuration, orbitals, levels and complete and abbreviated electron configurations. He also worked on a packet that covered significant figures, adding and subtracting sig figs and multiplying/ dividing significant figures as well as using algebra to solve for various quantities and using appropriate units."
"Meeting for the first time, the student and I ensured that he was comfortable with everything he has covered thus far in the class. We briefly reviewed and discussed velocity and acceleration, before moving into his current material covering the kinematic equations. He had a lab project with problems that we could use for him to test himself after we went over the material; he had no problems with them."
"We reviewed phylogenetic trees, cladistics, three domains, etc. We discussed possible experimental topics involving human subjects including effects of stress/ exercise on body temperature, respiration, blood pressure, reflexes, etc."
