Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The students prepared for their Spanish final and I verbally quizzed them for their science final. I'll make a review for them to complete later since the material covers a lot of subjects that won't be easy to turn into flashcards."
"The student and I continued to discuss his review for his final. We got most of it reviewed today. We have one page left to discuss on Wednesday before his final. We reviewed synthetic and polynomial long division, domain and range, as well as writing polynomials from the given zeros and the degree of the polynomial."
"We spoke about the student's goals, strengths, and weaknesses. We then went through the English test so that I could see what concepts we will need to review in the next couple weeks. We also discussed general strategy for English and reading and went through a reading passage to practice the strategy. We will meet next on April 2 after spring break."
"The student and I went over 2 out of the 3 essay rubrics for the exam. We focused on how to include analysis of the topics in each of the essays. For homework, she will read specific sections in the practice book and do another essay for next week."
"We covered introduction to thermodynamics material. We discussed viscous flow and how it relates to thermal exchange and flux. We discussed thermal-based material properties and heat transfer mechanisms. We discussed how molecular geometry helps determine various material properties."
"The student started by telling me, in German, about a telenovela she had watched called JoJo sucht das Gluck. She was able to talk through the larger plot points and character descriptions. We then discussed current events, including news abut a German satirist, the use of the German military, and the impeachment of the Brazilian president. She rarely had to look at the article itself to talk about it, and when she did it was usually to remember very uncommon words. We finished with a very brief look at the subjunctive mood. She is going to pick one grammar topic for us to take a look at during our next meeting."
