Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"- We covered SAT Math, specifically arithmetic, including squares and square roots, fractions, decimals, rates and ratios, and integers. - In future sessions, we will focus on fractions, and some harder rate/ratio questions."
"In this session, the student and I began by going over his homework. First, we went through chapters 15-18, which he had read for homework, and reviewed a few of the concepts that he was not completely comfortable with. After this, we discussed the math practice problems that he had completed. He seemed to have had an easy time with these. Next, he learned a new strategy for solving sentence completion problems. We completed some practice problems together, and he picked up the strategy very quickly. After this, we began talking about the grammar section. The student learned to apply a similar strategy to improving sentences problems, and he did a great job on the practice problems we solved together. For homework, he will solve all of the math practice problems he did not complete for this session. In addition, he will finish the rest of the critical reading and grammar sections (3 critical reading and 2 grammar sections total) in Practice Test 1 in the SAT study guide, the same practice test we worked on in today's session. If he has time, he should also complete as much of the math sections as possible. It is critical that he complete all of this homework prior to our next session."
"Today we started by talking about the general layout of the SAT and then progressed to the writing section. After that we switched to math for the rest of the session."
