Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through a review for her geometry test on Thursday. We covered reflections, translations, and rotations on a coordinate plane and reviewed more tessellations,"
"Today the student and I went over the material for her online course, which is essentially a review of the previous semester. We talked about similar and congruent shapes and the theorems that allow us to prove if two shapes have these qualities. We worked through her online text together and she took some practice quizzes. She seemed to do pretty well. She then spent a little time on her more regular classwork which was focused on factoring numbers and quadratic functions. I taught her the quadratic equation, which is perhaps puts her a bit ahead of the curve for now. Good session."
"We reviewed for a geometry test on lines and angles. We also looked at how that material would be presented on the SAT."
"This was the last tutoring session for the school year, with the student's final being the following day. The student was having difficulty solving for coordinates and radians on a circle graph, so we walked through the process. The student had a much better understanding of the material after working through several problems and finding the correlation between point coordinates and degree/radian values. Coordinate geometry has been a tricky subject for the student, but I am seeing significant improvement. I am also confident in the student's ability for the upcoming final."
"The student and I went over circles sectors and segments. We discussed the formulas required to solve for area of a segment and sector, including solving for the triangles within the sector. The student should do great on his quiz."
"The student has begun to work on different topics of geometry in class. More specifically, he has begun to work on the trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, and tangent. As of Friday's session, the student and I believe that he is already understands this chapter better than he did the previous ones and he is confident in his abilities. I even did few review problems this session and he was able to complete them perfectly."
