"I see mathematics and physics problems as a game, with rules and tools to make use of. I see some of the same principles in my extracurricular interests -- chess and tennis. I love playing sports and enjoy skiing in Montana and surfing in La Jolla, as well as reading classic literature.."

"During my time at UCSB, I studied abroad at the University of Queensland in Australia. While I was there I worked on two different projects both related in Marine Biology. I have been tutoring for over 3 years now and love having the chance to help students in a way teachers aren't able to. My belief is that every student learns in a different way and that unfortunately teachers do not have the time to adapt to every student's needs."

"Since the circle has been made of flexibility, I teach in the style that seems to fit the situation. I like to draw, I like figuring out puzzles, I like to flip problems upside down (usually not literally) to solve them and explain to others how to reached the end. I am a recent UCSD graduate with a passion for learning and a drive to help others. Consequently, I’ve worked in education most of my life and aspire to become a medically/educationally transparent pediatrician. I feel all knowledge is accessible to anyone who wants it, so if you ask me, I’ll teach you anything I know how." ...

" Even in high school I would help my friends with their homework, so I guess you can say I've been tutoring even longer than 11 years. I always try to find ways to make the subject matter easy to relate to. I don't believe there is such a thing as a difficult subject, I just believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses, and that it is best to focus on the strengths and use them to overcome the weaknesses. For example, some students struggle with word problems in math, but they enjoy drawing pictures."

"I learned more of the same from my year as an SAT instructor for a major test prep company, my semester as an aide to an 8th grade algebra teacher, and my six months as a volunteer literacy tutor for READ San Diego. I have had two years of training in tutoring and presenting material effectively. It is a common mistake of tutors to simply lecture rather than explain and interact. That is something you need not fear from me. I am a big fan of individual one-on-one tutoring, since a student's individual needs can often be overlooked in a classroom setting." ...
