"However, the bond I had with my original client remains strong to this day. After tutoring him for three years, whenever I return to Northern California, I visit the family to see how they are doing. I enjoy connecting with the clients on a personal level and maintaining a friendly environment. I pride myself in trying to take pressure of the student, which I believe helps them learn the material."

"While I hope to teach throughout my adult career, I am also applying to medical school this year. A tutor I once had told me that I had the determination and intelligence to become a doctor, and his words have stayed with me through today. If I can similarly inspire my own students, hopefully they will pursue their own dreams as a result of their academic confidence.."

" In both places I enjoyed teaching physics and worked hard to make it fun for myself and my students. The way I see it, success in physics and math is determined by the formula: SUCCESS = Effort x Time x Genius. If you're like me, and not a genius, then you just have to work a little harder, for a little longer and you -will- get it. For fun I enjoy SCUBA diving and videogames (both of which use physics in a big way!)."

"I try to heavily focus on helping students answer their own questions to create interactions that allow them to experience for themselves, not merely witness, the rational nature of math and science. I use a variety of mediums including short videos, illustrations, and occasionally music when appropriate to allow abstract concepts to become concrete memories. I have worked with a variety of ages from as young as 7th grade to as old as college seniors, which has given me experience to deal with almost every imaginable problem in the tutoring field. I have been a private tutor, worked with tutorial centers, and even been employed as a ...

"I was awarded tutor of the year in 2008-2009 at Mesa College. I have had tremendous success with past students where most of them end up with an A or B in their class. I make the subject very easy and understandable for the student and relieve the frustration that often accompanies these subjects. I can tutor in the following areas: Math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, Calculus Chemistry: General and Organic Biology: General, Molecular, Metabolic, Structural, Evolution, Genetics, Micro and many more.... "I love ocean science because it calls on knowledge from all the branches of science: physics, biology, and my favorite subject, chemistry. As a graduate student, I have enjoyed being a teaching assistant and helping students learn to enjoy the college science classes that I enjoyed so much. My teaching philosophy focuses on the idea that different students learn different ways and as a TA or a tutor, I strive to express different ways of thinking about problems. The teacher presents information one way, and I'll express it two or three different ways until one sticks! I also think that college bound high school (or middle school) students ...

" I always try to find ways to make the subject matter easy to relate to. I don't believe there is such a thing as a difficult subject, I just believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses, and that it is best to focus on the strengths and use them to overcome the weaknesses. For example, some students struggle with word problems in math, but they enjoy drawing pictures. I like to teach students how to draw pictures to solve word problems."
