"As a result, I have a strong foundation from which I am able to tutor those who need clarification of basic concepts, as well as those who are looking to reinforce their mastery of higher level concepts. Over the past four years I have tutored individuals ranging in age from eight to 18 years old, in areas ranging from basic reading comprehension to high school level math. I enjoy learning, and even more, I love being able to use my knowledge and experience to inspire and encourage my students. Whether one is struggling to keep up with course work, or aiming to attain a perfect score on the SAT, I believe that with the right instruction and proper ...

"I have taught students of all ages and find it particularly rewarding to work with those who have learning challenges.
In my free time, I love reading mysteries, horror novels, true crime books and general fiction. I also spend time furthering my knowledge of Forensic Science (I'm actually a trained CSI!). I'm also passionate about animals and volunteer at a wildlife rescue center.

" In both places I enjoyed teaching physics and worked hard to make it fun for myself and my students. The way I see it, success in physics and math is determined by the formula: SUCCESS = Effort x Time x Genius. If you're like me, and not a genius, then you just have to work a little harder, for a little longer and you -will- get it. For fun I enjoy SCUBA diving and videogames (both of which use physics in a big way!)."

"
I always try to find ways to make the subject matter easy to relate to. I don't believe there is such a thing as a difficult subject, I just believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses, and that it is best to focus on the strengths and use them to overcome the weaknesses. For example, some students struggle with word problems in math, but they enjoy drawing pictures. I like to teach students how to draw pictures to solve word problems."

"However, the bond I had with my original client remains strong to this day. After tutoring him for three years, whenever I return to Northern California, I visit the family to see how they are doing. I enjoy connecting with the clients on a personal level and maintaining a friendly environment. I pride myself in trying to take pressure of the student, which I believe helps them learn the material."

"Higher levels of math and science are built based on their fundamental concepts. Therefore, a solid understanding of these basic concepts is very important as students move forward into more advance courses. Showing students steps to solve a problem is necessary; however, showing them why performing such steps is the key to successfully tackling more complex problems.."
