Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent the session making a plan to stay organized over the summer and into 7th grade. We discussed what he believed would help him to stay organized. He suggested a sign to remind him of the things to take to school everyday. Then, I gave him a new plan of how to use his planner. He will begin practicing over the summer to use to do lists and setting goals that he must work towards everyday."
"I worked with the student on analogies, vocabulary, and math this session. She grasps how to do analogies and can manage to narrow down answers even when unfamiliar with the words. With math she tends to have a strong grasp of many of the functions, and I will continue to work on fundamentals with her. She is making progress on her vocabulary list as well. I left her some reading homework for this week."
"The student and I had a very good session and were able to resume well post-spring break. The student and I worked on some math word problems and her current math unit (measurement/conversion). We also worked on brainstorming and writing about her spring break. I am working with the student on becoming more comfortable with writing and realizing that she does not need to necessarily "know" everything to write."
"We went over a homework sheet the student had as a review of materials she has covered over the year. She mostly had it on her own, and just needed a few hints here and there to help keep her on the right track."
"Student one and I reviewed for his science vocabulary assessment coming up next week, going over a total of 22 vocabulary words. We also worked on his research project, honing in on key facts to put in his biographical essay. Student two and I worked on an assignment for her science class which involved finding biographical information on the internet and filling in a series of fill in the blank questions."
