"As the student's final is approaching, we went through the first of several chapters of review, spanning the semester of material. It began with 1-dimensional kinematics, and went through 2-dimensional and early introduction of forces. We reviewed through friction before we ran out of time. He was a little rusty on some of it, but he remembered as the problems went along."
"Today was our first meeting, and it went splendidly. We spent a little time getting to know each other and talking about what she had last covered in her physics class. She told me she had just finished up with momentum and vectors. We started working on the force of gravity due to two different masses using the gravitational constant and the equation for gravity. We discussed multiple problems with this and how to use the equation and find net force on multiple different masses. We then covered centripetal acceleration and the equation for centripetal acceleration. We went over some word problems using the centripetal force equation and ended the lesson with a big aha moment. It was a great lesson."
"Today we started by reviewing his Web assignments for physics. The topic of focus for the assignment was work and power. The key to the majority of the problems was identifying the force first and then the displacement. Then we moved on to PreCalc. Today's homework centered around finding the exact value of a trig function by breaking angles into two different values we know. The student occasionally struggles with simplifying the end arithmetic. A quick review of the necessary topic helps."
"Today, we reviewed electrostatics, both in theory and a few examples. The student has not had any lectures on this topic yet in class, so we are ahead of the game! His grades for his last test should be available tomorrow, so please let me know how he did, and we can take it from there."
"We completed the problem set I assigned to the student yesterday and reviewed them. He did well on the problem set. After completing the problem set, we worked on some more problems that he was assigned for homework in class. He was able to finish these problems using the formulas and method we discussed and practice on. This helped him to further understand the relationship between frequency and wavelength of waves."
"Today we worked on induction and Faraday's law. There are some tricky points to this material but we were able to work through a large set of practice problems. The last test score was about 95-97 so things are going well in this course. I left a couple extra practice problems with the student."
