Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session focused on an intensive introduction to the Java Swing environment. I introduced the following details to him: Layout managers (grid, flow, and border), button use and event handling, sliders, labels, and general design for GUI programming. This was all done for a rather difficult assignment that he has. He knows what he must work on to solidify our topics from today. Following this, he will work on his assignment and bring that to our next session."
"We worked on the tic-tac-toe game. We implemented the new code from last week that allowed the computer to be "smarter" and try to win. Then we added the code to block the opponent."
"I thought this session went wonderfully! The student worked on stepping through her assignment and I elaborated on some concepts I could tell she was unsure of. I explained why we set variables to 0 in our declarations and tried to translate what was happening in x+b to swift, so that she could understand both. I explained how to obtain input from the user or how to output it to the screen, how if else if and else statements worked and how their precedence came into play, and she worked all the way through her assignment. I made sure she understood everything I was saying and we spent a bit more time on the outputting of variables. Great session! I feel like I was truly able to help her and I feel very fit for getting her through this class."
