Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I did an intensive review of math content, starting with the basics and working our way up. Topics covered included real number properties and the number line, positives and negatives, fractions, percentages, ratios, rates, exponents, radicals, and factorization."
"The student continues to improve. Tone production is improving, long tones are improving, intonation is getting there. Adding arpeggios to ends of scales and talking about the concepts of chords. Amazing student."
"We completed the student's math worksheet over ellipses, hyperbolas, circles, and parabolas. She did very well and needed little help from me after I explained one problem to her. She seems to have the most trouble graphing equations, but is improving in this area."
"We continued reviewing for his final exam today. We quickly covered a review for linear and angular momentum, then spent the majority of our time reviewing energy, motion, torques, simple machines, etc. We will be meeting once more before his exam next week to do a final, "test-like" review of everything."
"The student hasn't taken the ACT before, so I spent some time at the beginning going over what he should expect when he takes the test and some general tips for doing well on it. Then we jumped into the English sample section. I had him try a few different approaches on his own, but found that he goes too slowly on the questions to be able to finish them in the allotted time. So I worked through one essay with him to help him get a feel for the pace he needs to go at. I recommended the online diagnostic tests for the reading section and doing practice sections. We had a little time at the end to begin the math sample section as well."
"The student has a business plan presentation in German tomorrow. She asked me to go over and check on the presentation. We worked on her talking points, and she presented her part to me. She did very well - her German language was very good, and she put a lot of effort into the presentation."
