Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked some more on logs and then did some practice physics problems using conservation of energy. The student didn't have any physics homework assigned, but we worked through some problems that should be similar to the problems she'll see on homework and tests."
"Today the student and I reviewed exponent rules, scientific notation, how to calculate slope, and how to write a variable in terms of another variable. We also went through a practice essay she wrote and discussed ways to make more fluid connections between her paragraphs, and tie each paragraph back to her thesis. Lastly we practiced rewriting grammatically incorrect sentences in preparation for the verbal section."
"The student has a Chapter 6 test on Wednesday. We went over her presentation notes on Chapter 6, which covers balancing reaction equations. We then worked out practice problems on the presentation and then moved onto practice problems out of the book. She seems to get the balancing down pretty well. She only struggles with the words-to-equation portion. I told her to practice more problems on Tuesday night before her test. We discussed another tutoring session next weekend either Saturday or Sunday in order to review finals material."
"The student and I spent the first part of our session working on critical reading and writing. The student is very hard on herself and wants to be perfect. I was the same way when I was her age and I did my best to reassure her. I encouraged her to go a little easier on herself. We also edited a paper that the student was working on for her AP History class."
"We focused on studying the student's Spanish vocabulary for his test on Thursday 24th. He had most of the vocabulary mastered before we started, and by the end he knew all of the sections. We reviewed the study guide, and he said that he felt comfortable with the content. He also took 3 health quizzes during the session. He has a health test on Monday. For the next session we will most likely work on his American government sectional assignment."
"This was our last session before the student's final. We mostly focused on a handful of specific problems: one having to do with after-tax real interest rates, one having to do with CPI, and another having to do with calculating GDP."
