Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on two population hypothesis tests, Welch's t-tests when the populations' variances are not equal, and a t-test when the populations' variances are equal. Tomorrow we will go over the student's final note sheet and we will work on her practice exam."
"The student's main problem is getting caught up after an extended absence from school due to a family crisis. She gets the gist of what is going on very quickly, and I think if we pick up the pace a little bit, she should be OK."
"We reviewed the student's assignment covering statistical process control applied to a health care clinic. This work includes the collection and analysis of patient data over a 30-day period. The student analyzed the data using Minitab statistical software and developed a presentation of results including x_bar charts, and two-sample t-tests."
"For this session, the student and I covered ANOVAs (both one way, two-way, and repeated measures ANOVA). Since he had just started the homework, we reviewed the problems and attempted to do them both using Excel and statistical software. He was very receptive to both methods and understood all the material once we were done."
"The student is covering sample means and confidence intervals for them. We have been doing these types of problems for a bit (sample means) and the new material was the confidence intervals. She is pretty confident with the regular sample mean problems. We just had to do a quick explanation of what confidence intervals are, how to interpret them, and how to calculate them. She's still having a little trouble interpreting what they mean. She is good with the straight calculations though. She completed her homework for Chapter 23 and 24 during the session to practice the concepts."
"We went over how to calculate a z score and determine its p value in order to determine if we should reject or accept the null hypothesis. The student's instructor has not incorporated the z table in her lecture and I am having the student work the problems out with the table. She seems to be getting much better with calculating the z scores and using the z table as well as making interpretations from the table."
