Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over telling time with the student this session. We also went over how numbers are constructed to solidify that, and we did a quick overview of verb conjugation."
"The student and I began the session with a review of the perfect tenses, going over the conjugation of each and practicing with some questions and answers as one would speak in daily conversation. We briefly focused on phrases where the perfect past subjunctive is followed by the conditional perfect, and then we resumed our practice of the imperfect subjunctive from last time. The imperfect subjunctive is our final covered tense and one of the more difficult ones, but he did a great job applying the rules of conjugation he just learned and working through each exercise to review all of the tenses we've covered."
"Today, the student had a quiz on chapter 7A. We covered clothing items + stem-changing verbs such as pensar, querer, and preferir. Also, he had his speaking test. He is doing really well, and he has improved a lot."
"We reviewed telling time and days of the week. We continued to review rules for different types of nouns. I introduced rules governing adjectives, months of the year, seasons, and asking for and telling dates. We also focused on pronunciation. The student pronounces most unfamiliar words well. H.W.: exercises on nouns, adjectives, and telling time."
"As it has been two weeks since last session, we refreshed prior concepts and fortified them as well. I left several homework assignments for him to catch up. His attitude is very positive; he understand that in order to move forward he has to master what we do in the sessions. Hence, he understand he needs to put in some time and work in between sessions."
"Today, we spent our session conjugating and applying preterite verbs. The student seems to have a very automatic understanding of this concept. She does not hesitate or mis-conjugate her verbs. This is wonderful! The only struggle she encountered at times was in deciding on which subject to conjugate when filling the conjugated verbs into a paragraph. After practicing this for a bit, she seems to have less struggles. Overall, she seems to have a good understanding of what she is learning."
