"The student and I worked exercises from section 8.3 of his book. It covered algebraic solutions to trig equations. Once he saw how the problems related to finding angles on the unit circle he seemed to really understand it."
"The student said the test he took this week went well. We then went over what he has learned since he completed his exam, which was law of sines and law of cosines. We specifically went over the ambiguous case for law of sines where more than 1 triangle is capable of existing given 2 adjacent sides and an angle."
"The student and I covered parametric equations of lines and conic sections. I showed him some of the theory of how and why conic sections are used. Afterwards I gave him tips on solving problems. Once he understood the concepts, he did very well solving problems."
"Today we reviewed for the student's pre-cal exam on polynomial equations. We reviewed how to find roots of polynomial equations. She was having a little trouble with complex roots, but we went over the concepts of this (if you have one complex root, you have to have its conjugate as a root as well) and she seemed to catch on. We also reviewed end behavior and how a graph of a function can reflect root multiplicity. We then reviewed some electrostatics concepts for her physics class. Overall, this went very well - the math concepts aren't anything new, we just introduced a new way to calculate an electrostatic force."
"Today we worked through most of Chapter two and the examples to help the student to understand the material. After working through the sections, we moved on to the problems that she was assigned and completed a couple of them together. She seemed pretty confident in the material that we worked through together and thought that she could try to finish the rest of the 2.4 problems on her own before next session. She is very capable of understanding the material when we can sit together and work through the lessons."
"We discussed the law of sines, graphs of the tangent function, and applications of periodic functions in preparation for his upcoming test. He had no problem understanding these concepts."
