"Student worked in two different math workbooks. In one workbook, he had to complete the classwork that he did not finish in class. The other workbook consists of his actual homework. The homework that he did not finish in class dealt with subtracting. The homework that was from today was dealing with writing an equation. He did a good job. He also had to work on his social studies homework. Social studies dealt with the community. He also worked on his spelling and that is due on Wed October 5th. Also I helped the student's sister by checking her answers for multiplication."
"The student and I went over a biology packet about genetics. He also showed me a presentation that he did about the Great Depression for his geography class. We have also decided to do tutoring on a Monday/Wednesday basis, since he has tests on Tuesdays. "
"The student and I worked on his homework, which included calculating circumference and arc length. The student only had minor questions and worked relatively independently. He didn't understand how to calculate arc length at first, but after I explained it, he seemed to have a good understanding of the concepts."
"The student brought some of the math packets from her camp and showed me what she had learned. We went over her homework covering rational functions and the beginning of conic sections. This material is completely new to her, but she is still catching on very quickly and working hard."
"To start the session, we reviewed several topics from precalculus that will help the student achieve success in future topics in calculus. We worked on using the unit circle as well as covered several different techniques. In addition, we covered different strategies to solve problems that require simplifying complex expressions. Finally, we discussed and worked on problems dealing with limits, which are the topics currently being assessed on his homework. By looking and working at examples and theorems, I believe he has a better basis for working the problems and he seems more comfortable with the concepts. We will work on similar topics on Thursday, as well as review other prior material. Overall, extremely positive and productive session."
"Covered new material in chapter ten, including Average Propensity to Consume/Save; Marginal Propensity to Consume/Save; recession gap/inflationary gap; rate of return; interest and inflation rates; nominal versus real GDP and income. Will schedule another session this week to review for his exam on 10/17. He seems to have a good understanding of the material."
"The student and I worked on properties of exponents. She understood most of it. We completed her homework and went over work she had done during the week. By the end, she was answering more consistently on all the problems. We also studied certain exponents she is supposed to memorize for the class. There were a few she struggled on, but we practiced enough for her to have them all down."
"In this session, the student and I worked on problems involving parts of a similar triangle. This included more advanced algebraic calculations to solve for some of the different lengths of triangles. We also discussed the proportionality of perimeter for triangles, and we solved problems related to this concept."
"The student and I had our first meeting today and introductions were made. Afterwards we began by completing some online chemistry homework assigned to him. The assignment consisted of basic skills with regards to becoming familiar with the user interface when answering questions. We also covered some basic chemistry topics such as structure of the atom, ions, empirical formulas and molecular formulas. Our next session is scheduled one week from today at the same time."
"The student improved her score greatly on her 3rd practice exam. She improved the most on the writing section. In the math section, geometry still seems to be giving her the most issues. We spent part of the session going over some of the more difficult concepts. We also discussed more test taking strategies. Overall, she is doing well."
"Today we had our last session and we went over all the material we could in order to check that we were on pace to do well in the next week's SAT. All went well and I think the boys will do well if they can put into effect the changes suggested on their essays! I asked them to do one more essay for me and send it to my email address sometime this week before their test on Saturday, so I can do one final review. We also went over some vocab this session and I told them it was really important to stuff their brains full of vocab during this next week, so these words would be fresh on their minds. "
" She has a large review packet, and we did as much of it as we could. I made sure not to go too fast through anything, as grazing doesn't do anything for performance on a test (we made sure she really knew what was going on before moving on). We are meeting again on Sunday."
