Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished up his math homework which involved lots of logical analysis and then coloring! He didn't like it when he didn't understand something but when I offered to work on something else and come back to it, he pressed on until he got it right. He can be very determined! Afterwards we kept on with "Nate the Great" and we made great progress and completed three more chapters!"
"The student and I had another great day. We reviewed place value and then worked on Singapore math (numbers to 40). Our writing theme was cats, and we brainstormed words about cats and words that rhyme with cat. We played an egg toss game and graphed our results. We read "Captain Underpants"."
"The student did much better today: We were able to read two stories with a significant less amount of guessing. We also did a decent amount of math which included addition and subtraction. She is still very eager to learn."
"The student and I spent today reviewing for his chapter 2 math test. We reviewed his worksheets and then took the practice test on the online site through his book. He did well on the test and only missed 4 questions, all coming from sections he was not taught in class."
"In social studies, the student and I covered reading comprehension with questions. In math, we covered expanded notation and place value. We discussed the need for lessons on how to organize information he has read and how to create a graphic organizer."
"In today's session, we spent most of the time working on science. The student's class is covering biomes and ecosystems, so we spent most of the time researching and gathering facts for his project and classwork. After that we made a few grammar corrections to his Island of the Blue Dolphins homework. I am hoping that when he gets his English test scores back from his assessment, we see an improvement!"
