Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered acid and bases. Initially, the student needed help understanding the concepts and how to approach the problems. However, after going through the problems, by the end of the session, she grasped the material really well. She has her own worksheet to practice from. Overall, the session was great!"
"The student was dealing with some tricky problems of waves, wave mechanics, and power, and there was a lot of information to cover. She seemed to pick up the concepts well, and let me know when she was confused. I think with a few more sessions, we can come to a good conclusion on these sets of problems."
"The student and I were both very pleased with how our first online tutoring session went. Just before Christmas, she had her midterm for her class, so today we reviewed the exam, discussed why certain answers were incorrect and came to the correct answers and an understanding of why those answers were the right ones. We discussed how cells regulate the fluidity of their membranes, through changing the saturation of their lipids and also by using cholesterol molecules to increase fluidity. We also discussed topics related to the central dogma, such as how the production of proteins is regulated transcriptionally and post translationally, to ultimately see how it is the proteins that are made which lead to the phenotype that is seen. We also revisited common topics such as signal transduction cascades and how they lead to amplification, as well as electrochemical concentrations gradients, this time in the context of olfactory neurons. To conclude our session, we made up basic genetics questions as a way to start to examine inheritance patterns, both autosomal and sex-linked."
