Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student completed two essays and one quiz for classes. The student prepared for revision of a 3,000 word essay completed last week."
"The student brought in the rest of his business school application essays. I examined them and then we went to work cutting and refining. They were very good quality and it was a matter of fixing small concerns. There was a sentence missing words. There were some word choice questions. I thought the messages in the student's short essays were sophisticated and thoughtful. We then went through a preposition exercise. He only had to improve a few short sentences, but I am still going to continue working on prepositions with him, because committees notice poor use of prepositions and articles. I sent him a new set of vocab words two days ago. I will test him on the current set of words on Monday. He will work on an essay for me, and develop an argument based on the appropriate model. We discussed the future dates for meetings, and potential need for me after the application is in (April 5) and his research paper is submitted (Mar 20). I discussed going to an "as needed" basis, but also acknowledged that he may slip back a little if we did that. He is thinking about it. I have told him that I will still come down to meet him during the college and university exam period and break if he wishes. I'm leaving him options."
"We composed and edited a profile paper for his English class. We went over essay organization, punctuation, and citation. We also discussed how to integrate dialogue from an interview into the essay."
