Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Discussed with the student what he's liked and not liked about past tutors, what his comfort levels are with different skill sets and areas of knowledge, and what he wants from tutoring sessions. Proposed a plan of focusing on vocabulary via flashcards and skill development / retention through working with a language app which he liked and agreed to. Made flash cards for his current vocabulary list in preparation for an upcoming quiz and worked with those."
"The student's teacher had given him the review for the semester final before our session. It seems that the test will focus heavily on vocabulary as well as preterite and imperfect verbs. We began by reading through the true/false questions. However it quickly became clear that the student was still struggling mainly with his vocabulary. As this was preventing other exercises from being fruitful, I had the student make vocabulary flash cards instead. Meanwhile, I made an additional vocabulary list from his review sheet in order for him to learn important high frequency Spanish words that will appear on his final. At the end of the lesson, I encouraged him to continue making flash cards and gave him some tips to help commit the vocabulary words to memory. I also showed him a website for studying Spanish. He will use this website to review preterite and imperfect. This website is a great source for reviewing and practicing Spanish and provides users with feedback on quizzes."
"Things went great today with the student. We worked on comparisons and superlatives in Spanish. We finished several assignments together and he seemed to have a great understanding of the new material by the end of the session. Looking forward to meeting with him next time."
