"The student completed her math homework (multiplication) and then wrote her spelling words three times each. I then quizzed her on her words until she could spell them all confidently."
"Today we focused on two non- fiction second grade readings, one on volume and pitch, the other understanding timelines. We worked through looking at the questions first to determine question types and then he read the passages and answered the questions. He did quite well with providing answers that were directly stated in the text but had a little more difficulty with think and search type of questions. I also would like for him to practice answering using complete sentences which he had a little difficulty with but we reviewed what makes a simple sentence and a complete thought. We also reviewed his word clusters and I would like for him this week to choose one cluster a day to learn the meaning of the words in his word families and how to spell each word. I am also providing several more reading passages to use for Tuesday and Wednesday practice of QAR. The purpose of the activities is to get him to identify evidence from the text to justify his answers. I told him that on Thursday we will have a small assessment over his vocabulary. He should turn his words into flash cards to help him with practicing spelling and definitions .Thursday I will also add new vocabulary."
"Today we worked on word problems with addition and subtraction. We also worked on reading words with long and short vowel sounds."
"Today we continued to work through the student's chemistry final review packets. We continued to work on atomic structure: protons, neutrons, and electrons. We also started working on balancing equations and naming compounds. We also discussed charges a lot and how they affect a chemical reaction. He continued to perform excellently and worked very hard, picking up the concepts quickly and asking good questions and understanding the answers."
"We first work on a science assignment on stem cells for her biology class. We spent the rest of the session working on a bibliography for her history research paper. She had picked up books from the public library, and we searched for other sources online. We then worked on putting these into MLA format."
"We reviewed concepts and theories of evolution in preparation for the student's first test. He had a positive attitude and was prepared for our session. There were just a few concepts he needed help with to better understand. He made a 94% on his first test so he is off to a great start!"
