Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"At school, the student has been learning to solve polynomials for all roots/zeroes using synthetic division. He has a test tomorrow on synthetic division. We went over everything he needs to know and worked the different problem types. Conceptually, his understanding seems quite good; in terms of skill, accuracy, and insight, synthetic division is going very well. He is also doing well with the rational roots theorem already, which is coming up. (The test tomorrow will not include rational roots.) Exponents will definitely benefit from more practice, but he's improving steadily. He has several worksheets from me for the holiday break to practice the factoring he has learned (all types) and some exponents as well. He will get more challenging exponents homework next time. Toward the end of the session, I quizzed him on the quadratic formula and its different named parts, the number sets, and the definitions of "term," "factor," and "polynomial." He got nearly everything perfect! With his can-do attitude, once he catches up with a few foundation areas, he should be ready for many kinds of learning!"
"We covered the material that he will be seeing in the next chapter. So far, he has been assigned homework in sections 6.1 and 6.2. He did several problems in these sections."
"The student and I reviewed population growth equations, logistic equations, carrying capacity, parametric, polar."
"Covered homework problems for the final exam. Logs, exponential functions, graphing a parabola, exponential decay."
"We worked on sample problems over proportions. The student is doing real well with proportions. She had already turned in her homework early and got a 100% on it."
"Review for final exam: went over packet, u substitution, solving 1st order odes by separation of variables, etc."
