Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued working on functions and moved on to solving for equations using one-step and two-step processes."
"Today, we reviewed for her algebra mid-term. We worked through her review packet and answered specific questions."
"The student worked on more problems from the worksheet his teacher gave him. It was a very good session. He has a much better grasp of the material this year versus last year."
"Today was the first session of tutoring. We focused mostly on going over the problems from an eCart test that the student took a few days prior. We also reviewed many of the concepts that came up while reviewing that eCart test. He seems to understand and remember most of the material from algebra but struggles to remember the little "rules" (such as exponent rules among others) that impede him from solving the problem. Another issue that I think he struggles with is attention to detail. He would often forget to bring over the negative sign or copy down the problem incorrectly and other little mistakes that can be easily fixed by being more attentive. I believe that most of the problems he struggles with can be improved with extra practice. I've suggested the lab website for extra practice problems that he can work on and we can go over for the next session. We will also continue to address these in future sessions."
"We worked on solving quadratic equations by quadratic formula; completing the square; and factoring."
"The student has a placement exam this Saturday, so we spent our time doing a comprehensive review of algebra. We focused on simplifying expressions with complex fractions, exponents, and radicals. We discussed the slope-intercept and general form of linear functions and how to solve a system of equations. We also went over how to factor quadratic equations and how to find their x-intercepts, vertex, and axis of symmetry. Lastly, we went over mixture problems. She has a very strong command of the material. She only needed a little guidance and refresher on certain types of problems. Overall, I believe she is very well-prepared for the placement exam and should do quite well on it."
