Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"With Student 1, we continued to practice distribution of variables and simplifying polynomials and exponent expressions. With Student 2, he was able to set up ways to solve certain algebra problems."
"We reviewed weighted voting systems to make sure the student had a good handle on each of the methods. After reviewing her Chapter 2 work, we began reading about fair division methods. It will be imperative to focus on the process in the context of her homework problems because these methods are abstract."
"The student and I worked on some math he was having trouble with, and finished an essay he had to write, focusing on diction and sentence structure. We ended with some grammar games."
"First, I checked the pupil's math homework regarding conversion among units of time. I pointed out errors he made converting from hours to seconds and worked with him on understanding there are two steps for that type of conversion. I then checked his reading homework. I pointed out errors, and we went over how to correct them. We then worked on a fourth-grade math practice test the rest of the session. As we worked on the questions, we reviewed concepts including perpendicular lines and bar graphs."
"We corrected math work that was sent home with the student from the previous day. We also practiced less-than, greater-than and equal-to problems. We then went over flashcards from school and alternated between addition and subtraction. He has materials from class and from a workbook I provided that he can use to continue to practice."
"Today we covered the introductory material for the student's statistics course. She seemed to have a positive attitude toward the material. She will do the work for Chapter 2 and the sample quiz by Friday."
