Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed the product rule, quotient rule, and chain rule. We spent most of the time on the chain rule, as that is a difficult concept."
"We reviewed limits and derivatives in preparation for the student's upcoming test. The student seemed to understand the underlying concepts well. The main thing he could improve upon is writing out all of the steps completely for each problem to avoid mistakes."
"Today we covered the chain rule, quotient rule and product rule. We also covered how to find the tangent line using the derivative function, the domain of a function and its derivative, and how to find the horizontal tangent lines in a function. On the diagnostic test the student got an 88% which is a good indication of his progress and learning in the course. He had his midterm this week and we will see how his score turns out. The student is doing well. I didn't leave him with any extra practice and have no concerns about this session."
"We reviewed some of the stuff we learned yesterday. In fact, we completely went over the power rules, log rules, trig functions and inverse trig functions. If yesterday was a day for learning, today was more like a clean-up day organizing all the information we learned yesterday. Today, after some review and going over some basic problems, the student was able to follow easily, in fact much easier than yesterday. We got up to all the basic parts and concepts of the power rule. Tomorrow will be dedicated to finishing up some power rules and concepts relating powers and exponents. I told the student to go over the notes and the problems we went over together today and even try to solve some of them as good practice."
"Today, the student and I worked through assignments on logarithmic, exponential, and inverse trig differentiation. She had some misunderstandings over the chain rule which led to difficulty at first, but once I explained how that part of differentiation worked, the rest of the material went more smoothly."
"The student just finished a quiz and test last week. We mainly went over points missed on her two tests and corrected these errors. Then, we discussed calculating areas bounded by curves, and I gave her a few practice problems for her to attempt."
