Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
1) The student thinks there is a test coming up, probably next week. It will be on
the preterite verb tense for regular and irregular verbs. I dictated 10 sentences
to her in English. She had to write them out in Spanish using the preterite. She
got them all right, and only had 1 or 2 mistakes.
2) She also will be studying direct and indirect object pronouns and their use
in sentences. I went over this carefully as it can be confusing when writing these
in complete sentences. After explaining the correct order of these pronouns in
sentences, I gave her more sentences from her book. This section is covered
in pages 150 to 158 in her book.
3) We did Activity 9 that had these object pronouns in sentences.
She wrote these out carefully and got them all correct. She understood my
explanation and applied it to her sentences.
4) We did another review on the subjunctive. She showed me a test she took
and had most of it correct. She got points taken off for accents and a few verbs
that were written in the infinitive by mistake. I think she did well, and I told her
to be more aware of her accents and writing her verbs correctly on future tests.
The student was very attentive and she has shown great improvement. She takes
detailed notes to help her remember the material we cover. She did awesome!"
