"The student and I continued our prep for her ISEE exam in November. Today we focused more on vocabulary. We started a word list of all the words she struggled with today and during her last practice test. Just writing the definition really helped her remember and when I quizzed her on the word list at the end of our session she did really well at remembering the new words. I definitely want to continue this strategy going forward. We did some reading comprehension and focused on the inference questions which tend to be the trickiest. She did a great job with these and some of the questions were very tough. After that we did some quantitative comparisons and I tried to look for some questions to stump her. We came across a few topics that she is not entirely familiar with so I gave her quick lessons and she really enjoyed learning the more advanced techniques. She requested that I try to think of a few more things to teach her for next time and I will! For her part she will complete the practice test, and review the word list for next week."
"We did some diagnostics. The student must review math concepts. I will assign a practice test and some review questions of math concepts."
"We started by introducing ourselves in French, reviewed the structure and content of the exam, and did a short practice test so that I could identify her strengths and weaknesses. Afterwards, we reviewed the imperfect and conditional tenses, and learned two types of "si clauses" (theory). We ended the lesson by doing an oral exercise that put all of these tenses and grammar concepts into practice."
