Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the entire unit for the student's test the next day. The subjects covered were point slope form, slope intercept form, direct and inverse variations, and standard form."
"The student is smart and has good math sense. She picks concepts up quickly, and has a good basic understanding of how algebra works. We worked on the general rules for solving equations with one variable. We also worked on equations with decimals and fractions, and then used the distributive property to simplify expressions with exponents. We could cover a lot of ground, because her underlying skills are good."
"We went over the entire chapter to review for his upcoming test. He knew everything completely. I am confident that he can get at least a B or maybe even an A on the test."
"When I spoke to the student, he told me that the work on exponents that we'd done over the summer had finally been vindicated by his recent proven mastery over them. The plan is to meet next Monday at 3:30 so that I can present him with a copy of an old quiz so he can attempt it again, with the hope being that his mini-mistakes don't reappear."
"We began the session by reviewing some of the learning tool website problems I had previously assigned to demonstrate the format of the site and go over the concepts together. Then, we refreshed basic algebra before discussing systems of equations. In addition, we briefly introduced the concepts of radicals before ending the session."
"We worked on Matrix Algebra. Specifically, we covered Matrix Multiplication, calculating the determinant and determining the Inverse Matrix. We applied these concepts to word problems and worked through the student's homework. He is a bright student and very good with the calculator. He would benefit from taking a bit more time with the problems and making sure all of the details are correct."
