Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We talked about grammar, about pacing - don't rush but don't overthink it - and about making sure to check the verbs and pronouns every time."
"We began the session by reviewing the student's homework assignment of using the words from the problems on the sentence completion drills which he got incorrect during last session in a sentence. We then focused on Quantitative Reasoning problems, specifically fractions, decimals, and percents. For homework, I assigned to the student to some reading on analogies as well as the first 2 sections of the first ISEE Practice Exam, and to time himself on the exam sections, using strategies discussed during our session, mainly to read all of the questions first, then mark the easy, medium, and hard ones before working them out. That way if he gets stuck on a difficult problem and spends additional time, he has already answered the easy ones and doesn't miss an easy questions due to time constraints."
"Today we mainly covered Reading as it is the student's weakest section. We finished up reviewing his practice test from yesterday and covered any remaining issues in Writing/Math, though the student doesn't have much trouble with this section. We spent the rest of the session practicing vocabulary and reading practice. We will continue this practice next week in our last session."
