"We drilled from the reading section and he took a reading diagnostic. He has reading and verbal problems to practice on, as well as writing prompts."
"I assigned the students a math diagnostic to take, so that I could get an accurate measure of their progress. The first student scored 55% and the second student scored 70%. We reviewed the missed questions from their diagnostic and proceeded on to individual practice, targeting the following topics: Geometry (plane and coordinate), Probability, and Fractions. We reviewed some test taking strategies and afterwards, I could tell that they felt much better and were getting more of the targeted practice correct. At the end of our session, I wished them good luck on their test session tomorrow :)."
"This session with the student focused on Geometry, which she says is her weakest math content area. We used practice problems from the learning tools database to help her become familiar with the types of questions that she would see on the ISEE. It was a little difficult for her to solve some of the problems without remembering the exact formula needed to solve a problem, so I will be making flashcards for her with common math formulas on them so that she can review them. We also had some time to review adding fractions and the different types of problems that she may see on the test. The only minor struggle that she had at first was changing an improper fraction to a mixed number. After showing her the step-by-step the process of changing the improper fractions to mixed numbers with several examples, she was then able to change improper fractions to mixed numbers independently for the remainder of the practice problems."
