Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on his math homework; PEMDAS equations, shapes and dimensions, and a couple of questions on quantities. We covered the number of degrees in any triangle, and how to calculate the degrees in a particular angle, along with triangle shapes. There were also a few mixed number questions and fractions."
"We went over the student's old exams and quizzes that she received back before her winter break. They were mainly over heat transfer, reaction types, endothermic vs. exothermic. I did not leave her with any practice."
"Yesterday was our first chemistry session. We talked about the periodic table and why it is organized the way it is. We talked about the groups and metals vs. nonmetals. We discussed group numbers and how they correspond to the valence electrons. We talked about what the atomic # represents and how ions are formed from elements and the proper naming for them. The student didn't struggle with anything and caught on quickly. I told her she can go ahead and do any assignments before class if she wants to complete them early."
"The student and I discussed two-dimensional kinematics and anticipated that the coming week in her class would deal with ramp problems, so we went over several of those types of problems, both with and without friction. I assigned her six additional problems in two-dimensional kinematics in order to prepare for this week's quiz."
"We discussed the student's zoology project for the majority of the session. For the project, he had to write the rough draft for a formal essay about the benefits of adding penguins to a zoo. In the rough draft, he discussed the benefits of penguins for research, conservation, and educational purposes. Concluding the session, I quizzed him on his Spanish vocabulary words."
"The student went over his science class homework, specifically worksheets on balanced and unbalanced forces, a speed and acceleration worksheet, and his speed and acceleration lab homework. He was able to complete all of his science homework in the session, in addition to reviewing general concepts."
