Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"At today's session, the student and I covered some topics on his review sheet for his upcoming midterm exam. We covered basic stoichiometry, percent yield, inverse and direct relationships, Avogadro's number, and naming organic compounds. He seemed to have a decent grasp of this material."
"We covered ionic bonding, movement of electrons, and ionization of atoms in aqueous solution. The student has a 2-page worksheet to complete before our next session."
"Went over the chapter on molecular orbital theory. I had a little bit of trouble trying to explain hybridized orbitals so that the student could understand it. I will be returning next time to finish that subject and work on the next chapter as well."
"Today we covered organic chemistry reactions that included hydrolysis, esterification, alcohol oxidation and condensation. We then did a work sheet I printed out that was supposed to help identifying functional groups on organic molecules. I left him with several practice sheets for him to do if he feels the need to do extra problem sheets."
"This session, we worked on the carbon cycle and global warming. It is interesting that the student is learning about this particular subject in chemistry as opposed to biology. On that note, she is doing well in her class so far. She has aced the last few quizzes."
"The session went well. The student seemed to have a little trouble with the redox reactions, but I believe the issue was she learned a different way in class than the book showed--which caused some confusion. But in the end, we worked through the problems and she was able to complete them."
